RCD Testing

Residual current devices (RCD’s) are safety switches which are designed to shut off electrical supplies when an in-balance is detected in an electrical circuit. Circuit in-balances can often occur when a power supply has been connected to a faulty appliance, or when a person accidentally touches an energised piece of equipment.

Circuit in-balances can result in fatalities if the RCD does not disconnect or ‘trip’ the circuit instantaneously.
